Jeff Ross Photography took home 5 Gold Addy Awards in this year’s local tier of the competition.

The ADDY® Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. Every year approximately 60,000 entries are submitted in local ADDY competitions.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local ADDY Awards is the first of a three-tiered national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants are vying for recognition as the very best in their markets. Local winners then compete against other winners within their regions in one of 14 District competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the National ADDY Awards competition.

A “Proud” Moment

Proud

I recently caught up with Maryanne Berdan, the Food Pantry Manager for Catholic Community Services in Northern Nevada (CCSNN) who couldn’t wait to share the experience she had with Mr. John Marks, one of the patrons who comes into the Food Pantry.  You might remember the Gold Addy Award we won in February for “Proud”, a photograph I took of Mr. Marks while receiving his monthly box of food at CCSNN.  When Maryanne was finally able to give him a copy of the photograph it was as if he didn’t recognize the person in the picture.  He looked up at Maryanne with tears in his eyes and told her he had never had a picture of himself before.  “There are a lot of good moments at CCSNN and there are a lot of joyous moments, this was a joyous moment I will never forget.  It takes great talent to capture people’s emotions and you can’t put a price on it” Maryanne said.

Four Photos, Five ADDY® Awards

We are proud to announce Jeff Ross Photography won 5 Addy Awards, Friday, March 13.  Jeff Ross took home three GOLD awards, the highest level of creative excellence, a SILVER award, and a Judges Choice award.  The ADDY® Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising.

Proud

This image, titled Proud, won a Gold for Black and White Photography as well as the Judges Choice Award.  An expressive snapshot of Mr. John Marks receiving his monthly box of food creates the direct approach we were looking for to accomplish the Catholic Community Services goal to help bring public awareness to the services they provide.  This image was shot with a Hasselblad H3D camera and battery operated strobes

Lipread, another Gold winner, this time for Color Photography, was created using Combo Tungsten’s, Strobe lighting, and movement from the Hasselblad H3D camera to create the blur effect.  Our model, Trevor, came in for an entirely different photo concept but was open for trying new ideas giving us this revealing contribution at a 1/10 of a second, something Bob Ross would call “a happy accident”.

Our third Gold winner for color was Four, an individual image used for our new promotional series.  This was photographed using the Hasselblad H3D camera and strobe lighting, the blue tint effect was created in post processing using Photoshop CS4.  The visual impact of this photograph is unique, mysterious, and revealing at the same time.

Drag won a Silver Award for color photography.  It was created in the studio using the Hasselblad H3D camera, strobe and tungsten lighting, and increased shutter speed to blur the rose petals.  Following our theme for an upcoming promotion, this photo helps reveal a subculture few of us have experienced.
